Laura McHugh, soprano, is a classical singer on the rise in the Boston area and beyond. She was recently named 1st Place winner in the 2018 National Classical Singer Competition by a panel of judges including Deborah Voight. She also was named a Grand Finalist at the 2018 International Talents of the World Competition. In August 2018 she sang the role of Gerhilde in Wagner’s Die Walküre in Sweden, and in early 2019 performed the title role of Kalman’s Gräfin Maritza. Her 2018 season also included Mimi (cvr) in La Boheme with Boston Opera Collaborative, Volivia (Vesta's Feuer, Beethoven) and Mrs. Gobineau (The Medium). She recently appeared as Vitellia in Promenade Opera Project's immersive production of La Clemenza di Tito, and Giulietta in The Tales of Hoffmann. She is a student of Dana Varga. Ms. McHugh has accepted a Resident Artist contract with Tulsa Opera for 2019-2020 and will appear in their upcoming production of Tobias Picker’s Emmeline.
